As Alfonso Sanahuja, from Consorci Sanitari de Terrassa (Hospital in Terrassa) says:
During covid-19 pandemic, it has been difficult situations due to the lack of planification in long-term for resources needed related to clinical patient profiles and equipment on demand. With HOSPITALES 4.0 project we got a tool that allows to be forewarned in front possible new pandemics and critical situations to be simulated in different scenarios and to face them with guarantees
Frederic Gil Banús, MEP and Smart Building Lead Engineer in BIM6D explains:
We together the rest of teams participating in the project have developed a pilot project in a critical ICU space of the Terrasa Hospital, integrating a Digital Twin platform (POWERBIM) of the boxes, spaces and medical equipment integrated to the equipment inventory, historic data of pathologies and technical maintenance data of the equipments in order to predict problems and future needs while at the same time we can analyse different alternatives thanks to simulations.
Thanks to technologies like artificial intelligence algorithms, machine learning and simulations we can anticipate the need and availability of boxes, beds, equipment and resources that we will need according to the pathologies of admission to the hospital, as well as predict and anticipate their availability. Obtaining predictive maintenance, reduce corrective maintenance and optimize operating costs and improve health care and patient safety.
Miguel Delgado, from Universitat Politecnica de Catalunya, explains:
The advantages that hospitals and health centers in general will have by incorporating a solution such as the one developed in the intelligent and predictive project HOSPITALES 4.0 with respect to current asset management and maintenance systems are basically three:
HOSPITALES 4.0 benefits:
- Reduction of maintenance costs, it is possible to predict the main temporary windows in which to carry out preventive maintenance and reduce the number of corrective maintenance actions.
- Increase in the availability of resources, the mean time between failures is lengthened and the useful life of the equipment is also lengthened.
- Consequence of the previous two: Greater efficiency, lower operating costs for greater availability of the operation.
Helena Perez, from CadTech Iberica says:
In short, any sector, whether hospital or not, whose facilities are critical and depend on high-demand equipment, will be able to benefit from these technologies in experimental development according to the scope of our project. HOSPITALES 4.0 also offers a potential help to the hospital, such as the reduction of waiting times, the improvement of the patient experience and, in turn, the prediction that it will take.
